In 1908 she married Prince Vilhelm, Duke of Södermanland (17 June 1884 - 5 June 1965), the second son of King Gustav V of Sweden. On May 11, 1913, according to the NYT, query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9801E0D7173FE633A... they were rumored to have been selected to rule Albania. "It is rumored that Prince William, second son of the King of Sweden, and his wife, Princess Marie, have been selected by the powers of the Triple Entente as the rulers of the new Kingdom of Albania, which is to be formed on the conclusion of peace between Turkey and the Allies." But by November 1913 the marriage was over and she was back in Russia.

I'm not sure who this is. The first Kingdom of Yugoslavia wasn't established until 1918, and wasn't called that until 1929, so it's hard to know why it would have had a Princess in 1910. My best guess is that she might be Maria of Romania, sometimes called Queen Maria of Yugoslavia. She was born in 1900 so would be about the right age. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Maria_of_Yugoslavia

Again, not a sure thing, but believable. www.tkinter.smig.net/QueenMarie/Gallery/Mignon.htm begins to make me certain. She was known as MIgnon to distinguish her from her mother, also Maria. Some of the other pictures at www.tkinter.smig.net/QueenMarie/Gallery/index.htm are lovely too.

Dorothy Parker may have been referring to her mother, who was also known as Marie of Edinburgh. I think this Marie is probably the subject of the photograph: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_of_Romania
