The Broadway sources mention Sunshine's 1915 appearance in the chorus of Hands Up--perhaps accounting for her flare, while other children look more serious (or dubious?), ibdb.com/production.php?id=7046. The word "peace" on Sunshine's banner fits well with the NYT coverage of the '1916 July 4th celebration as a flag-focused, city-wide, sane and safe (no fireworks) extravaganza. More from that article, which continues the Broadway theater connection: “... One of the children’s celebrations was in Times Square, where some 500 little ones listened to a patriotic address from Borough President Marcus M. Marks of Manhattan. After the exercises, the children were taken to the Globe Theatre, where a special performance was given for their benefit. Refreshments for the children were supplied by a number of firms in the vicinity and in response to a request from the committee having the arrangements in charge all the buildings in and adjoining Times Square were flag decked. The celebration was held under the auspices of the Broadway Association.”

Since two seem to be composers, perhaps Schleider is in fact Schlieder -- Schlieder, Frederick William 1873-1953 www.worldcat.org/identities/lccn-no93-31418 New-York tribune., October 10, 1915, Page 8 chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83030214/1915-10-10/ed-... confirms his identity with a picture.

Schlieder and Gow were both active in the New York State Music Teachers Association. So perhaps this could have been during a meeting of the association
