Logan airport expansion was a great source of controversary throughout the 60's and early 70's in East Boston. The Neptune Rd. area was most affected as new runways at the time brought older era and very loud jets over the rooftops of this triple decker neighborhood shaking dishes off kitchen tables and interupting family conversations. Eventually neighborhood groups throuout E. Boston began to orginize and fight back. Massport which was responsible for managing the airport finally relented and changed runway patterns and became mych more sensative to the needs of the surrounding communites.
