I have never in my life learned anything from any man who agreed with me. Dudley F. Malone (1882-1950) American diplomat

"I'm Tim Calhoun"

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dudley_Field_Malone This photo ran in The Sunday Oregonian. (Portland, Ore.) 1881-current, February 16, 1913, SECTION FIVE, Image 67 with the caption "Dudley Field Malone, mentioned for secretary to the President after March 4 is an assistant corporation counsel in New York.- He is a son-in-law of Senator O'Gorman, of New York, and has known Governor Wilson intimately for many years. If he is not made secretary, it is believed he will become Assistant District Attorney for New York. The position of secretary to the President is regarded as almost as important as a place in the Cabinet. At times there has been discussion of the possibility of making it a Cabinet position. This would rest with the President, as the law does not mention Cabinet places. They have grown up entirely through custom." (oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/sn83045782/1913-02-16/ed-1/se...)

I wonder whether she could be this Mary Malone: workinglives.econ.usyd.edu.au/malone.html

Or perhaps she's this woman, listed as a passenger on the White Star Liner Adriatic in 1908: query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9C01EEDC153EE233A...

Far more likely to be Mary S. Malone, Delaware's woman factory inspector, and a crusader against child labor, who testified to Congress in 1914: books.google.com/books?id=fwwXAAAAYAAJ&pg=RA1-PA42&am...

This is definitely Mary S. Malone, Delaware factory inspector. There are 3 photos of her with other factory inspectors in the Library of Congress National Child Labor Committee collection. Here's one of them www.loc.gov/pictures/item/ncl2004002787/PP/

The same photo of her in The Caucasian., July 06, 1913, Image 2, column 1. She was appointed the ten hour law inspector in Delaware.
