Fredo, a film transparency is equivalent to about 5,000 lpi resolution. It's more like today's digital technology is catching up with the old quality.

Right. But I was not commenting on the image resolution. Besides, on a image resolution this small (500x400) such a source resolution is pointless. My purpose was rather to comment image quality such as color balance, hue and definition, which in my opinion is quite remarkable for an exposure taken in the 1940's. In refering to the "technology", I was refering to the tanks... Regards.

Above photo is an M-3A1 'Stuart' Light Tank (I earlier identified this as just an M-3 but have since learned that the original M3 had sponson machine guns mounted on both sides of the driver(s) which were removed on the M3A1). Photo below shows an M3 "Stuart" Light Tank from the 13th Cavalry, 7th Cavalry Group (Mechanized) at Fort Knox with sponson machine guns mounted. I love the lighting in this entire set. The techniques used are far more creative and advanced than what I would have expected from this era.
