Lieutenant Joseph Charles Stehlin (1897-1967) on an air tour selling liberty bonds. He is wearing a French WWI aviator uniform so he must have been in the Lafayette Escadrille. New York Times on April 14, 1918: "If the weather is favorable, Lieutenant Joseph C. Stehlin will start at 3 o'clock o clock this afternoon from Sheepshead Bay on his air flight through New York state in the interest of Liberty Bonds." He was born on 29 January 1897 in Brooklyn, New York City. He died in Miami Florida in 1967. I found it.

The Harrisburg telegraph., November 28, 1917, Page 7 printed a photo of him with the caption: "Joseph C. Stehlin, of New York City, who is but nineteen years old, is at present the youngest American aviator in France. He was refused the right to enlist in the American and British flying corps, but was accepted by the French.
