A correction, it is J.P. Morgan Jr. His father had already died that year on March 31, 1913: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._P._Morgan,_Jr.

The detail present in these vintage photos is always amazing considering the technology of the time, although it was state of the art then. Viewed large, the background structure looks sharper than the three men, probably because of a slow exposure and a little movement by the subjects.

Deetje Andriesse you look terrific. I googled the name to find several references in the fashion and social pages of 1930s Sydney. Somewhere out there there will be relatives and friends who will love to see this photo.

beachcomber australia Yes, there are rather a lot aren't there? If this is her, it is of special significance because it is such an early portrait. The other numerous (but poor quality) photos that appear in the society pages are from the mid-late 30's. I think these newspaper articles on Deetje Andriesse are of particular interest -

In 1935 she was photographed by Harold Cazneaux. The photo appeared in the February issue of The Home magazine - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/55537947

In April 1937 she was photographed at work in her new studio in the Victoria Arcade (somebody tell agrippinamaior!). She had just returned from Europe, where she had studied leather-work for 2 years - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/17363797

This one, nla.gov.au/nla.news-article40994836, is clear, but it doesn't look much like her. The description we included above from the newspaper report of the JAVA event seems similar to this woman's clothing, however, it is difficult to say for sure that it is her.

It is likely to be her because we've just uploaded another photograph and identified the woman in the centre to be Madame Teppema, who is wearing a black suit, white blouse, baku hat and holding a bouquet of carnations.
