This is not a photo of Mitchel Field, but instead an aerial photo of LaGuardia Airport (LGA / KLGA) and the adjacent Marine Air Terminal (see the left side of the frame) in Flushing, Queens (NY). There even appears to be a Pan American Airways flying boat moored in the water at the terminal. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LaGuardia_Airport en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_Air_Terminal The connection with Mitchel Field is that this aerial photo was likely taken by an aircraft based there, since Mitchel Field is only 15 miles away by air.
