The picture shown is the the HMS New Zealand (1905-1911) which was a pre-dreadnought battleship of the King Edward VII class (4-12",4-9.2",10-6",16,350 tons, 18-19 knots). She was re-named HMS Zealandia on Dec 1, 1911; releasing the "HMS New Zealand" name for a new battlecruiser that was completed in January 1912 (not pictured). The HMS Zealandia and her 7 sisters made up the 3rd Battle Squadron with the home fleet at the beginning of WWI, but because of their slower speed were soon relegated to serving in other theaters of the war where faster German dreadnoughts were not potential advesaries.

This is a photo of HMS Hibernia and a Short Improved S.27 biplane, likely taken in May 1912, when Hibernia was engaged in various test flights conducted by Commander Charles Samson (RN) flying the aircraft from a makeshift flight deck placed upon the forward portion of the ship. ah the lead class of the "wobbly eight". She fulfilled her design requirements but ship design advanced very rapidly and within a few years she was obsolete with the advent of Dreadnought.
