There is some doubt as to the correct spelling to Dick’s surname. George Richard Rogers or George Richard Rodgers In the Australia War Memorial records (Boer War Nominal roll) and Australians serving in the Boer War (members.iinet.net.au/~perthdps/military/index.html) he is named: George Richard Rogers Service number: 346 Rank: Private Unit: 5 (QLD IMPERIAL BUSHMEN) CNTGNT Departed: March 6, 1901. Returned: April 30, 1902. But in a newspaper article of the time he is described as George Richard Rodgers - nla.gov.au/nla.news-article21254456

I would also wish to comment that I'm not sure this would have been in Capetown but rather in Durban... The rickshaw was a popular mode of transport in Durban were the local Zulu people were more often employed to do such work. In Capetown the local peoples were comprised of Cape Malay and Hottentot peoples and this gentleman is not from one of these peoples...
