Chase a/c is EF-84E 49-2115; pilots were Maj Clyde Good and Lt Col Clarence E. "Bud" Anderson (WWII ace in "Old Crow" Mustangs). The Thunderstreak prototype is now at the NMUSAF in the R&D section.

He could actually climb in & out of the cockpit while it was retracted into the bomb bay, so the idea was to climb in just before launch (which could be completed in about 1.5 minutes).
