  Pity help them if a car swerved off the track! Can anyone explain how this lap-counting(?) system worked?

  Peter Kelaher Simples! Rather than rely on fiddly computers, electronics & sensors to record lap times & laps completed, "back in the day" they relied more on the old multi-purpose eyeball, flip-cards, stop-watches & GP Pen & Paper!! ;o). I suspect Car No. 20 was/is undergoing running repairs in the "pits" for a number of laps, but is still capable of finishing. Presumably, the cars with no laps showing have been retired/crashed out :0)

  This is Alf Najar who won the race. His parents were from Tripoli in Lebanon there is more information on their site alhs.org.au/?p=233
