Wow... Scary bus. Would be perfect in a movie like Jacob's Ladder (1990).

According to this map on Wikipedia, there was only ever one junction near Enfiled, Nesbitt Junction. The left hand line is a branch headed for Edenderry, which closed in 1963. I believe the photo was taken near this red doohickey. The curved path of the closed line is still visible in the hedges before disappearing under the new motorway.

Thanks, great photo, although it's not exactly the one I was expected as the loco is not bonnet first but I am convinced he has one at Nesbitt somewhere, but never the less an interesting image all the same cheers! Yes that line curving away is the branch line to Edenderry.

Nesbitt Junction and the branch line to Edenderry can be seen clearer in the 1995 B/W aerial photo. maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,675406,741025,6,5 Switch to the Historic 25 inch map for more detail. It's great that the OSI have published these old aerial photos.

Niall McAuley blackpoolbeach Thanks for the map work! I've added it where Ciarán said, because I can't remember the link for my OSI converter... Will doublecheck against OSI on Monday. And you're dead right about the aerial photos - they're fantastic!
