A magnificent place to visit if you are only in Dublin for a short time. It has medieval churches, Celtic High Crosses and Round Towers. Today the valley is heavily wooded.

The photographer of this view is Robert French (1841-1917), who was chief photographer for William Lawrence's Photographic Studio in Sackville Street, Dublin. The National Library of Ireland hold the original glass negative in their Lawrence Collection, acquired in 1943 after the firm closed. - catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000325656

There's so much more to be learned from knowing who provided the photos and the other purposes they might have been used for. Better dates for the image content being one basic aspect. I'm pretty confident the majority of the other Irish photochroms in the series will also turn out to be from the Lawrence collection. I'll let the NLI's merry band of Flickroonies know, and I'm sure you'll be peppered with corresponding photos and links.
