This girl in a glass house is putting finishing touches on the bombardier nose section of a B-17F navy bomber, Long Beach, Calif. She's one of many capable women workers in the Douglas Aircraft Company plant. Better known as the "Flying Fortress," the B-1 from The Library of Congress uploaded January 2008

Could that be a railway under construction on the foreshore? The apparent T-junction of waterways is not unlike the junction of the Suir and the Barrow - could the glasshouse refer to a country house called Glass House which was once on the site of the Bellview Port? www.google.ie/maps/place/New+Ross,+Co.+Wexford/@52.270920... I can't quite make it all fit together though, as the view from the Glass House wouldn't look quite like this...

Sharon Corbet I like Snowhaven House. On the 25", you can see that Snowhaven House had a Conservatory/glasshouse facing the river. Also that the railway was built along the shore in 1906. If that was my view, I might try a lawsuit myself. Snowhaven house is gone by the 1930s Cassini map.

Ha ha! Beautiful gardens were laid out with winding paths and "extras" built by David and his son, Peter, when he inherited in 1785. Among these was the Octagon, built in 1766, with a panther on springs, which could be made to jump out at unwary visitors. The house was most famous for its huge glasshouse, built between 1783 and 1793, in which many exotic plants were grown.
