Frederick Garfield "Fred" Gilmore (May 22, 1887 – March 17, 1969) was an American featherweight professional boxer who competed in the early twentieth century. He won a bronze medal in Boxing at the 1904 Summer Olympics, losing to Frank Haller in the semi-final.

    Notes:
I don't think the prefix was "major".

  • The Library of Congress said:
Richard Arthur Norton (1958-): Thank you for the additional information! This does appear to be Fred Gilmore the boxer. It seems he was also a manager for other boxers, and so the prefix should be recorded as Mgr. for Manager, rather than Maj. for Major.

We will add more details to the source data and reload the description to Flickr.
