I remember 1948 in Newcastle upon Tyne, when everything was drab after the War. This photo of Gothenburg is colourful. Life before a forest of road signs and double-yellow lines. Today there is probably a law against eating ice-cream while riding a bike.

The man was carring a coffee in his hand while cicling :)

Aliera29 I remember in the 1940s there was ice cream in a cardboard cup, with a small wooden spoon. I cannot remember take-away coffee in those days. That came later. Or maybe Sweden was well ahead of Britain then.

I love this photo. The building structure layout is amazing. I love how it is not too confined and trees are growing on top. I love how it looks old, but not to old. The coloring and the fog gives it an extra oomph. Cheryl Excellent Should be a postcard.

Dear Swedish National Heritage Board, I wanted to let you know that last night I showed my family all the pictures that I had commented to I had seen and they could not believe how amazing your pictures were. My son especially loved the architecture of the buildings. I cannot wait to see more. Cheryl
