    I can smell the coal and cinders.. phew! It's a wonder anyone survived all that smoke in the air. I remember what the city of Chicago used to smell like in the 1950's. Every morning there was a fresh dusting of soot and coal ash on the windowsill.

    The trains and windows create great leading lines into the picture and make it seem less 2D and more like you're actually there by drawing you in. Also the soot makes it so that the color of the air is never the same color in more than one place and the color gradually changes in any direction you look. I love that this is in color! If it were in black and white however, it would represent the different zones of black and white perfectly.
