A rough translation of the typing at the bottom of the card would be "A party giving a welcome to the Chief Allenby who is giving medals to a small group of French Officers"!

Translation of the French caption on the site above -

"Parade of the 108th territorial infantry regiment in the streets of Saint-Pol - March 1916.
These troops paraded on the occasion of the presentation of decorations to the pilots, Captain Turin and Corporal Daguesan by General Allenby and the commander of the 3rd British army"

Captain P C Adelus of the Marine Nationale's FR AMIRAL CHARNER at a reception

  • covid convict said:
Per the digitised newspapers a civic reception for Captain Aldus and the officers of the Amiral Charner was held at Sydney Town Hall on 29th November, 1934. I'd say this is the occasion/location. trove.nla.gov.au/work/183006744 - NLA Fairfax pic of conductor Sir Hamilton Harty taken at a reception held at Sydney Town Hall...looks to be the same venue.
