    Per the digitised newspapers a civic reception for Captain Aldus and the officers of the Amiral Charner was held at Sydney Town Hall on 29th November, 1934. I'd say this is the occasion/location. trove.nla.gov.au/work/183006744 - NLA Fairfax pic of conductor Sir Hamilton Harty taken at a reception held at Sydney Town Hall...looks to be the same venue.
