This photo was taken in the late 1960s/early 1970s in the Los Angeles area and is a photo of the Tallmantz Aviation Fokker D.VII. This was a Hollywood aircraft. It was painted in Ernst Udet's markings of a red fuselage, diagonally striped red//white or black/white upper wing. The monogram "Lo!" was painted on the side... the name of Udet's fiancée... or pet name I should say. Her real name was Eleonore Zink, called "Lo" for short.

Fokker DVII (OAW) 8508 parked in front of Hangar 8 at Mather Field, California on 14 April 1919. Maj. Carl Spatz flew this machine over Sacramento on that day, and that is presumably him in the cockpit. On 16 May 1919, it was one of the airplanes paraded through the streets of Los Angeles to promote the Memorial Day air show that was to be held two day later at De Mille Field, Hollywood.
