    The lady is DRILLING not riviting. This looks like the decking for something other than the A-20.

    definitely the hair net, but I was really pulling for the shoes. gives a very clear sense of scope and scale of the operation, ....those drills were not like tools we have today. I am struck.

    Most likely these aircraft workers were over the age of 18 when the photos were taken. That being the case, it would be more accurate to refer to each of them as a woman rather than as a girl.

    I'd bet a latte that the titles are taken word-for-word from the captions each photo was assigned at the time it was taken (or at the very least, when they were processed into the collection at the LoC). I doubt it'll come as a newsflash to anyone that things were a bit different in 1942 than they are in 2008...

    It looks like this lady was more into fashion than actually worried about safety or dropping some heavy piece of metal on her feet. She is seen earlier in a closeup as well. Makes me wonder if she was an aspiring model or an actual model?
