    CAPTION COMPETITION To celebrate our reaching 50 million views we decided to hold a competition. The details: • The competition is open to anyone who would like to enter! • One entry per person. • To enter, provide a caption for the linked "Fancy Dress Ball" image (which was already uploaded to Flickr) • The best, funniest or most appropriate caption, in the opinion of the judges, will be deemed the winner. The PRIZE: The winner will receive a framed copy of their own favourite image on the NLI Photostream AND a €50 voucher for Café Joly in Dublin! There is no entry fee and the competition secretary will not enter into any correspondence with participants. Bribes or offerings of virtual sticky buns will not disqualify, but will be frowned on by those Marys wearing pince nez in good Library Towers fashion! How to enter: Provide your caption in the comments section of the "Fancy Dress Ball" image! The result will be announced on Monday next 16th January 2017.

    Oyez, oyez, oyez! NLI has reached 50 million views on Flickr! Today is a day of wild and unconstrained celebrations in Library Towers, as the NLI Flickr photostream has reached 50 million plus views over the weekend! Such a remarkable number was only reached thanks to the many contributors who have visited and provided such interesting and detailed background to the various images. So today the congratulations are to all of you: (a) all those who follow and enjoy the images, (b) all those who give the images favourite tags and (c) especially those who delved into the past and have provided such fascinating insight into the times, the people, the places and the context of the images.
