Amazingly the first time i have seen this

I think it's the first time for me too, as Lange is always represented by the Migrant Mother photo in the textbooks. This is incredible street photography with a difference. -- Seen in your FSA/OWI Favorites set. (?)

This photo tells a story in a way that few photos do. I dig.

Just amazing.

Really amazing shot. Have certainly heard about the dust storms of those years from relatives, but amazing to see it in this way.

I wonder if that is their home? It's a reminder that today's economic downturn pales in comparison with what these people went thru in the 30s.

Arthur Rothstein (the man who took this photo) was my Photojournalism professor in college. He was only a teenager when he took this shot but he told me what a power impression it had on him.

This photo is one of the most memorable things from going to grade school. I grew up in the Midwest, and can remember wondering what the dust bowl must have been like, and I always went back to this photo.

Son, don't worry. Someday you'll look back on this as the perfect preparation for being an astronaut.

the iconic nature of this image doesn't at all distract from its emotive power.
