How times have changed, the building this was shot in is now the Downing Centre Court Complex which is the largest court complex in NSW. The outside of the building has been left as it once was but I'm not sure how much of the interior is from the original building.

Here is one story from NYTimes, (involving a subpoena from Congress) query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?res=9400EEDA1E3AE6... Here is another story involving Rockefeller and guards: BURNS SQUAD GUARDS ROCKEFELLER ESTATE; John D., Jr., Installs Strong Force of Detectives to Protect Italian Workmen. August 28, 1912, Wednesday Page 1, 583 words John D. Rockefeller, Jr., took Detective William J. Burns to Pocantico Hills yesterday to investigate the disorder among the Italian population, which has caused several hold-ups and shootings on the Rockefeller estate and in its immediate vicinity. Detective Burns has a squad of men on guard at the estate. query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?_r=1&res=940CE...

The same view today. Thanks for the article with the story and the address, Harry Angstrom!
  • Deb Malewski said:
That's cool you added the modern photo, boeke! thanks!
  • The Pete said:
Huh, I don't think the first article Angstrom links to has anything to do with the picture. The caption suggests the detectives are guarding Rockefeller's home, not waiting for him to arrive so they can force him to testify, as the NYT article describes. That is an interesting article given our current economic problems.
