  Info from airlinerlist.com N37474 DC-4 MSN 27238 Delta Air Lines. Delivered to the USAAF on 19 December 1944 as a C-54B Skymaster serial 44-9012. To Douglas on 01 December 1945 and converted to a DC-4 To Delta Air Lines as N37474 28 February 1946 to 22 May 1953. To California Eastern Airways on 06 June 1955. W/O as destroyed February 1958.

  The first Douglas DC-8, registration number N8008D (c/n 45252/1), "Ship One" serves as a backdrop for the 1958 dedication of a time capsule at San Francisco International Airport (SFO / KSFO) on "To Be Opened Jan. 11, 2000." As it turned out, the time capsule was opened at the United Airlines maintenance center at SFO on February 2, 2000. Apparently, video of the time capsule opening is currently a part of the SFO Museum collection.   After flying for Delta from 1996 to 2004, the aircraft would be purchased by Federal Express (FedEx) and converted to MD-11F Freighter configuration in 2006. Sadly, this aircraft would flip over and be destroyed in a crash landing at Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT / RJAA) in Tokyo, Japan on March 23, 2009, resulting in the deaths of the aircraft's two pilots.
