  Thanks to your sleuthing regarding the dates used and Carnegie's actual travels, I can speculate this is one of the cases in Bain where the date on a negative actually reflects the date used or published. So, while this photo may have appeared when Carnegie was actually in Berlin, it may have also been used a few years later when he had his birthday.
