He appears to be a strong black man. I can see in his eyes that he has a big ego and is extremely conceited. It seems as if he wants people to believe that he is the best and that no one can take him down.

This is an interesting picture to me because it was obviously taken in early 1900s when there were still civil rights issues. This man does seem like a boxer, but what gets to me is the look this man has on his face and the way he is standing. He has his shirt off to show his strength and is standing with confidence in his posture and in his facial expression. The man is ready to take on his next opponent and also ready to take on the world because of the hatred that gets thrown at him because of the color of his skin.

Illa Vincent was a Cuban wrestler. "The managers of Yussiff Mahmout, the Bulgarian grappler, had one of their many defies "called" yesterday when Bob Motts, who is looking after the interests of Illa Vincent, the Cuban wrestler, offered to wager $1,000 that Mahmout could not throw Vincent ..."
