I remember protesting the expansion of this dump at Croton Point Park. They were trying to take away some of the baseball fields. We stood in front of the bulldozers with many other kids and their families.

Hi Libraryrivergirl, Wow. That is a very cool story. It's a shame that the dump was expanded at the expense of baseball fields! Thanks for sharing it with us. - Jill (U.S. National Archives)

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Croton-on-Hudson, New York, and we'd love to have this added to the group! When we were kids, we used to have to walk past this dump on the way to the riverfront Croton Pointe Park. It stunk both figuratively and literally!

Hi Libraryrivergirl, Sure, you're welcome to add the National Archives' photos to your group. I bet just looking at these pictures brings back olfactory memories of that walk in the middle of summer! Kristen (U.S. National Archives)

Thanks for adding the photos. Yes, it was especially awful in the summer. And we would wrap a scarf around our faces to block out the smell as we went past.
