Is that a drone above the power pole or maybe a distant helicopter, or maybe a near dragonfly?

Ryans, Whelan and Fitzgerald are all there in the 1911 census.

Interesting as I'm looking for photo of a shop on the opposite side of George, which housed George Tyrrell's bookshop in the 1950s-60s.

The same view today - Bankstown Babyboomer Hi opsbooks, James Tyrrell's bookshop was at 281 George Street. It was on the same side of the street as this photo (the west side), but further south - just south of the Margaret Street corner and opposite Hunter Street. Hope that helps you track down a photo.

See also - Not sure about the date - could be after 1908, because the tramway "T" pylons have been replaced. If they were there in the first place?

Aha! Found the 1899 Kerry photo I was looking for. It shows no Tramway "T" pylons for this section of George St, and also that the entire block was rebuilt some time after 1899. McInerney's Commercial Hotel (not Gunther's) is on the Essex St corner - from.ph/28153
