A very interesting machine. I worked in places with belt drives like that in the '60's and it is hard to imagine today with the technology we have available to us. Note that the belt on the extreme right which appears to be the main drive belt is twisted? This was to reverse the direction of turn on the top spindle and wheels.

Swordscookie Ah, clever! So, do you think that they let the churn turn one way for a while, and then twisted the drive belt for another while for each load of mil? Or would each full churning time be one way OR the other??
