  Nagasaki University has a shot from the same location by an unknown photographer, dated around 1890 based on the cherry tree age. It's taken just east of current Akasaka Mitsuke intersection, looking west towards the crossroads of Benkei Bridge.

  As a frequent DC photog myself, I cant even begin to tell you how much I love this photo. They were so well dressed back then, I hope it makes a comeback.
