    Butt Bridge was replaced only in 1932, whereas this version was built in 1879. So not too much help.

    I remember the Cabinetti in Naples Railway Station back in 1977. There was a hole in the floor. 2 chains hung from the roof with hoops on the end. It was quite a trick to get your feet into those hoops!

    Great picture. If memory serves, I think the small bridge in the middle was able to swing to allow slightly taller boats and barges further up the river.

    This is after 1882 when the widened and renamed ( Carlisle bridge) O'Connell Bridge was opened. The trams were fully electrified by 1901.
