Could this be an early Northrop BT-1? The landing gear fairing is different- www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/4559686254/ ...but the canopy looks the same.

Kevin I think your very close... Per "Aerofiles"; Northrop XA-16 [NX14998] (Northrop) A-16, 5B 1935 = Rebuilt A-13 prototype (as Gamma 2-F) with 950hp P&W R-1830, three-blade prop, no wheel fairings; ff: 3/x/35. Northrop designation was 5B. POP: 1 as XA-16 [NX14998]. Flight trials were disappointing as it was needlessly overpowered, and the project was cancelled (production units were to have used the 750hp R-1535-11).

Aerofiles has not read the Northrop Story properly. NR14998, later X14998, was not the XA-16. NR14998 was built far later (c/n 188) and became XA-ABI. The XA-16 was (as Aerofiles correctly states) the YA-13 rebuilt. YA-13 was X12291 c/n 5 34-027 and just because it was modified into the XA-16 it never changed c/n or previous identities. Stig

No this is not XA-ABI. As stated this is the XA-16 34-027 which was c/n 5 and the former YA-13. (I was correcting the faulty details by Aerofiles quoted above) Stig
