A photo of Jimmy Doolittle with the Harmon Trophy he was awarded in 1930 for his pioneering first "blind flight" on September 24, 1929 at Mitchel Field, Long Island. The flight demonstrated instrument flight which would enable aircraft to safely fly at night and through poor weather. Doolittle considered his work with the Guggenheim Full Flight Laboratory on instrument flight to be his most important contribution to aviation.
