LOC -- Page's middle initial as here given by the Bain News Agency is incorrect. His full name was Walter Hines Page.

Walter Hines Page, American diplomat and journalist, was in the news in March, 1913 (when the Bain Agency circulated this photograph), having just been appointed U. S. Ambassador to Britain by the newly-inaugurated President Woodrow Wilson. Walter Hines Page "was born in 1855 in North Carolina and died in 1918. After being educated at Johns Hopkins University he became a partner in the publishing firm of Doubleday Page and Company. From 1890 to 1895 he edited The Forum and edited other publications. In 1913 he was appointed by President Wilson American ambassador in London where he worked to promote Anglo-American unity. He retired due to ill health in 1918." The photo looks strangely modern for the 1880s. It was the Burton (not Durton) Bros in Dunedin - "During the 1880s Alfred [Burton] travelled extensively through the South Pacific, photographing scenes of village life in Samoa, Fiji, and Tonga." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burton_Brothers
