I know these pictures in sepia. Were coloured a posteriori?
BTW, Hurley was an impressive photographer. -

The Bristol Fighter had some beef behind it. From Uxbridge I passed out and was posted to the fighter training squadron at Crail, Scotland.
I did about thirty hours flying; half of it solo. By the end I could do quite a few tricks, looping the loop, roll spins and all the rest of it. I had a good instructor, Captain Dean. These instructors were all pilots from France. They got the wind up and had been sent home. Couldn’t take any more of it. He was a real ‘B,’ this Captain Dean. He used to swear and curse at you. He’d been shot down in No Man’s Land and had been rescued. If you did anything silly he’d shout. “What the hell are you doing, you’ll kill your bloody self!” All of this & more in a 25,000 word verbatim memoir from interviews conducted with Jack Wilson MM in his 97th year.

Lots more on Hudson Fysh here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hudson_Fysh. Plus yay for distant relatives of mine (well, my husband's) showing up in the Commons!
