    B-17F serial 42-5309 never made it overseas. She was with the 532nd Bomb Squadron, 381st BG at Pyote AB, TX in April '43. Later she was transferred to Biggs Field in El Paso, where she served with the 235th Combat Crew Training Squadron.

    The Desert Warrior was North American B-25C, s/n 41-12860, that was assigned to the 81st BS, 12th BG, 9th AF. She took part in operations from El Alamein across Africa through Sicily. The ship flew 73 combat missions, dropped over 83 tons of bombs, shot down 3 enemy fighters, and accrued 191 combat hours. To reclamation June 21, 1946.

Here's our mission. A combat crew receives final instructions just before taking off in a mighty YB-17 bomber from a bombardment squadron base at the field, Langley Field, Va. (LOC)
