A vivid description of a visit to the Blarney Stone in 1887, possibly near the date of this photo - Freeman's Journal (Sydney), 24/12/1887, p.7s - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/115445952 " ... no protection inside ... " - ie no railings in 1887.
