British Library digitised image from page 260 of "All Round the World. Adventures in Europe, Asia, Africa and America ... With illustrations by S. P. Hall"

I know the book page is the correct way up, but it would be nice if illustrations that are meant to be viewed by turning the book onto it's side were rotated to avail correct viewing here on Flickr.
  • British Library said:
Thanks for the message. We are trying yo go through and rotate them as people spot them, but as you point out this is how they came out of digitisation so, for now at least, many of the images will appear the wrong way around here - James
  • Serendigity said:
Thanks James. Might I suggest ask the public to help, if they add a tag "rotate left" or "rotate right" you can then easily do a bulk change of all the affected images that are so tagged, and delete the tags afterwards.

Great idea. Would you mind suggesting that on the wiki? blpublicdomain.wikispaces.com/ - James

I remember sometime about 1960 while out wandering around the prairie with some friends we found W.F. Cody carved in sandstone beside a Kansas creek in Ellsworth County. If I remember right there was a date carved there also. Assume it was late 1800's. About 20 years later when I was in the area I wondered if could find it again. But with so many vast acres of grass and creek beds nothing looked familiar at all.

A horrible reminder of what the white man did to the buffalo. The animal was nearly shot into extinction like the passenger pigeon. Sometimes I think we Americans have been incredibly stupid. Look what is happening now in the Gulf of Mexico.

Whats up with the tree climbing buck?

The buck? Just another animal shot for sport.

Winans looks like he is the one who was stuffed. That looks like a fake back-drop to me.
