    The second of these H&E photos is of John H and his son, William B Bankhead. The father appears to favor a particular style of hat.

    I think this is too early to be WB Bankhead. The Bain catalog number is 1101-15. The 1100 series are all pre Great War, around 1910. Bain reused older photos, but they never distributed a photo that hadn't been taken yet. Around 1910 WBB was still a circuit court prosecutor in Alabama. Even after coming to DC I don't think he ever developed that "prosperous belly" this gent has under his coat.

    Thanks Richard Norton, Seuss., and swanq. I agree with Seuss. that it's too early and not the right proportions for William. We also have other photos of John wearing the same or very similar hat. We'll add his name to the record.
