The 420-ton Japanese Subchaser #39 is seen under attack by the 500th Squadron off the tip of New Hanover Island on February 16, 1944. This photo was taken from RITA'S WAGON with Capt. Max Mortensen piloting. 1/Lt. Richard B. Fritzshall's aircraft, BROTHER RAT, which carried a shark's mouth insignia, is seen just after he released a bomb over the ship.
