This is the so-called sun stone or Aztec calendar. It was long recess next to the Cathedral of Mexico, during the 19th century. They were then transferred to the first Museum of History in Moneda Street and finally in the twentieth century to the National Museum of Anthropology in History in Chapultepec.

LOC -- you have misspelled "Chihuahua" in your photo title.

The ethnic group in Chihuahua State are Tarahumaras, not Aztecs.

This picture is also found in Wheelan collection and in Corbis where it has printed copy right by Mutual Film Co. and dated apparently 1910 or 1916 (?).

Tarahumaras [Rarámuris] are standing on west side of Plaza de Armas. Hotel Palacio was located on south-west corner of Libertad Street and Independencia Avenue in Chihuahua City. The building appreciated behind Tarahumaras [Rarámuris] is the west wing of former Municipal Palace where currently is located the Banco Nacional de México (north-east corner).

This piece is the Coatlicue, another of the wonderful sculptures found buried in the center of Mexico City. This photo is when it was exhibited in the Museum of History in the street of Moneda. Today it is part of the Mexica room of the National Museum of Anthropology and History in Chapultepec.
