It's posed. The shirt is crisp from the laundry (and is too good to be wearing while working on machine tools), while her hands are unnaturally clean. Still, a nice picture.

husbands at war, wifes working. A period I did not know (born in 1950), but having heard so much of this. Your library is very moving, for all what it shows, and the very historical memories.

Excelente fotografía de claroscuro.Tanto la mujer como la máquina están muy bien modeladas por la luz.La posición central del motivo sugiere el carácter estático de la escena.

Riveter at work at the Douglas Aircraft Corporation plant in Long Beach, Calif. (LOC)

Excellent posed picture..hokey though because the rivets are already driven, and, more importantly, there always had to be a "bucker" holding a bucking bar tool which caused the other end of the rivet to expand. If he were really driving a rivet by himself, his left hand would have to be holding the bucking bar on the other side of the skin/rib. Neal

These look like fashion shots. The red vest with the pin keeps coming up. Maybe a "Rosey the Riveter" style shoot?

My mom worked at Douglas. I have pictures of her in her grey zip-up pantsuit (much like what garage mechanics wear). The pictures show on this site have to be ones for promoting as they did not dress like this for work, that is for sure!
