    "Lord Mayo was stoutly built, with a frank, good-looking face, upon which a smile generally was to be found" - from his obituary following his assassination at Port Blair on the Andaman Islands in 1872. The photograph doesn't seem to have captured his smile.

    Hi Library! Perhaps also of interest is the 'Villa Blanche' or White Villa which was built for Doumer as a summer residence in the Vietnamese coastal town of Vung Tau. It is now a landmark building and well preserved with some of the original furnishings intact. Doumer named the villa after his favorite daughter 'Blanche'. I took this photo of the Villa in 2009 and you are free to use it: .
