"Lord Mayo was stoutly built, with a frank, good-looking face, upon which a smile generally was to be found" - from his obituary following his assassination at Port Blair on the Andaman Islands in 1872. The photograph doesn't seem to have captured his smile.

He didn't become Viceroy of India until 1868 and didn't arrive in India until January 1869 - I doubt he would have used Bourne and Shepherd's services before that.

Sophie was born in 1901, and Ernst in 1904. My guess is that the photo was taken between 1911 and 1913. www.btinternet.com/~J.Pasteur/Family.html has some pictures that could have been taken at the same time. The children are in the same outfits as far as I can see. Unfortunately the pictures are not dated. I found the same picture at news.webshots.com/photo/2045053910100532270PzIgGf -- also not dated. The other version has a printed caption and looks to be a page from a book.

As such, she held also the titles Queen consort of Bohemia, Queen consort of Croatia and others. From an early age, she was called “Sisi” by family and friends. ("Sissi" as in the film or in the animated series is the French translation.)
