He was Archbishop from December 1940 to 1973 so this was either 1940 or early in 1941? A lot of prelates in this one.

Swordscookie Wikipedia claims 27 December 1940.

There is a description of the consecration in John Charles McQuaid: Ruler of Catholic Ireland by John Cooney. From that I think that the woman in the first row on the right (after all the clergy) is the then Lord Mayor of Dublin Kathleen Clarke.

Interesting to see the changes to the arrangement of the altar/sanctuary area following Vatican II. According to the Wikipedia article, the altar rails were removed in the 1970s, the wooden pulpit was moved elsewhere, and the reredos (the ornate wall/divider that the candles are standing on either side of the tabernacle) was removed entirely. www.flickr.com/photos/the_burninator/128998406/ Perhaps unsurprisingly, though undoubtedly there are more ladies further back the church, I recon it might almost be possible to count the females in this section of the congregation on one hand. (Made obvious by the expectation that men would remove their headwear - but women would retain theirs.) I'd concur with Sharon Corbet's suggestion that the foremost hat-wearing (and fur-wearing?) lady is the Lord Mayor...

Looks like Ivan Rafael Rodic, who had the church name (I'm not sure of the ecclesiastical term for the name change) of Archbishop Giovanni Raffaele Rodic, O.F.M. † See his history here, which includes Archbishop of Belgrade: www.catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/brodic.html and here; www.geocities.com/capitolhill/rotunda/2209/Catholic_Yugos... He was appointed Archbishop on 29 october, 1924, so this photo would be dated after that.
