    Wonderful photo but a very tricky aircraft to ID 100%. First of all it was not built or designed by Dorand. He was the man in charge of the French Aeronautics Technical Section and draw up the requirements for the type while the detailed design was most likely made by Captain G. Lepère. It was built by already established companies under SFA contracts. From various production lists it seems most of the built aircraft were of the A.R. 1 version. The only difference between the A.R. 1 and A.R. 2 was the engine, and what we are looking at is either an A.R. 1D2 or an A.R. 2. The A.R. 1D2 was a re-engined trainer version since the A.R. was only in the front line for a short time. It was basically obsolescent the moment it entered service. Stig
