coming again to this photo, i think he can be a young Chorrojumo, a self-appointed "gypsy prince" (or king) from Granada, who made his living with tourists-travellers offering himself, idealized image of a gypsy, as companion guide and model to be photographed, what we call now "a souvenir". If so, this portrait could be of some importance, because in the other known ones we see an older person (both in the famous one by García Ayola, from 1880-1890, or in this other one from Señán y González) he died possibly in 1906; take a look also at trousers, boots and cane in this image in wikipedia

jorge dragón: That's really interesting what you tell us. I'd say it's most likely that our bearded fellow here is this man Chorrujumo when you compare his outfit with those on the images you linked to. It would be great if it's the same person! If so, our photo would also be localized to be from Granada. /Anna B.

I'm sure that the town is Granada. It's a view of the 'Albaicin' hill, with the church of San Nicolás in the left. Probably made from the Alhambra or the Generalife.

You're absolutely right about that! Albaicín seems to be an interesting part of Granada - I read about it on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albayz%c3%adn Thanks a lot for giving us this information :-) /Anna B.
