A wrecked Albatros from Albatros-Flugzeugwerke? I almost wonder if it's the same plane as this one:



That one might be an Albatros C-1 or C-2:



This one seems to have some of the same features — e.g. the long tail fin coming up the upper side of the fuselage — but with the front of it wrecked it's hard to be sure if it's really the same or not.

Almost an Albatros C.1, but not.

It does seem like something early from Albatros-Flugzeugwerke, but it seems hard to be more specific.

On this plane — pardon me for not knowing the terminology here — the plate just behind the propellor seems to be a flat square, while in most of the ones I can find pictures of, e.g. the B.I (1913), the B. II (1914), the C.I (1915) — the same assembly seems to be more of a pyramid or cone shape at that junction.

By the time they got to the C.V (1916), the overall design starts looking more rounded & sleek than what we see in this photo, which seems to have a boxier overall airframe. So it does seem to be something in the Albatros B.x or Albatros C.(I, II, III, IV) range.

Maybe an ALBATROS C-1 C-2?

Definitely NOT an Albatros - none of which have ailerons like that. More likely it is from the US west coast as it shares a certain degree of similarity to the Boeing model C floatplane although the Boeing is more advanced with regard to roll control.

Good catch — you're right, the trailing edge of the wing is different.

It definitely looks like an American design to me. There are two vertical block radiators just in front of the leading edge of the top wing. This is very "Wright-Martin" looking stuff... or similar American producer, Thomas perhaps, prior to the Thomas-Morse merger.
