Cropped from original in the Bibliotheque Nationale de France's Gallica online collection of photos from Agence Meurisse. gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b90417805 That photo (which does not have Bain's copyright markings) identifies the Spahis as Moroccan, and the location as Ribecourt, not Arsy. "A Ribecourt : un campement de spahis marocains" Pub. Date 1914

Artolog: Thanks for finding the matching image with differing location information in the Gallica website. Its great to have the men identified as Moroccan and the name of the press agency, Agence Meurisse, who were probably responsible for the image which Bain copied. We will include some of these details in the image description when we update. Seems like the Gallica website may be a fruitful source for more information about some of the Bain World War I images.

Art Siegel GREAT research, Artolog! Great photo. I love the detail and the sense of seeing a 'day in the life of a moroccan soldier'.
