  Looking at the objects in the case on the left they look like fancy bottles for perfume or scent? I tried to see if there was any hint in the reflection in the glass of the Easons display but the angle may have been wrong. Nice photo and obviously good advertising at the time. Varians had a factory in Capel Street if memory serves me right though it is gone since the early 70's.

  I worked in the North of Ireland for around seven years in the 1970s, and I remember Eason's in Donegall Street very well. They were a very 'establishment' bookshop, but even so, they could also acquire books which were deeply frowned on, if not banned, by the authorities. One such book, which I still have, was Patriot Graves - Resistance in Ireland by P. Michael O'Sullivan - an American book of images and narrative which sympathetically documented the activities of the IRA. In those days, it became a collector's item - I don't know whether it still is.
