Lieutenant General Robert Lee Bullard (January 5, 1861 – September 11, 1947) was a senior officer of the United States Army. He was involved in conflicts in the American Western Frontier, the Philippines, and World War I, where he commanded the 1st Infantry Division (nicknamed "The Big Red One") during the Battle of Cantigny while serving on the Western Front. He later was an administrator in Cuba. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Lee_Bullard Eugene Mead Caffey (December 21, 1895 in Decatur – May 30, 1961 in Las Cruces) was an American Colonel in the United States Army during World War II, and he later served as Judge Advocate General of the United States Army. According to The New York herald. [volume], August 25, 1922, Page 9, col. 5, Bullard was accompanied by his daughter, so Rose is likely Rose Bullard Bellinger (1894-1992) www.findagrave.com/memorial/146311640/

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_American_Legion_(1919) "American Legion was built for the United States Shipping Board (USSB), one of the planned World War I troop transports converted before construction into passenger and cargo vessels, the Emergency Fleet Corporation Design 1029 ships. The ship was laid down as Koda and perhaps assigned the name Badger State at one point, but renamed American Legion before launch and one of only a few of the design not taking a state nickname. Originally operated by the USSB's agents and the Munson Steamship Line the ship saw commercial service until laid up 13 March 1939."
